Adulting

Have you ever left a job you enjoyed?

I did – a couple weeks ago. I’d finally found a place where after two years, I felt comfortable and content and was pretty good at what I was doing. I liked it for the most part. I became very close with the women I worked with and they quickly became like family. I was blessed to be touched by a few of the patients we had.

Everything was going well, but for a while I had been wondering what my next step would be. Where I would go from here? What’s next?

I believe it was no coincidence that my favorite song, Don’t Stop Believin’ by Journey, played through my radio as I drove to my last day at work, followed by Invincible by Kelly Clarkson.

Now I am invincible
No, I ain’t a scared little girl no more
Yeah, I am invincible
What was I running for
I was hiding from the world
I was so afraid, I felt so unsure
Now I am invincible another perfect storm

Opportunity came knocking and I couldn’t pass it up. While the future is uncertain and can be a little scary, and I’m sad to leave behind what has become familiar, the nerves I feel are mostly excitement. I’m ready for change. Ready for something new. Ready to see where this adventure takes me.

I’ve grown so much in the last two years, as a person and as an employee. I’m confident and capable. I know there are no limits. I know God leads us where we’re meant to be and I feel Him leading me on this path.

So here’s to new jobs, new careers, new lives to touch. Here’s to another chapter of learning and growing and feeling. Here’s to motivation, determination, the drive to succeed. Here’s to all of us just trying to adult and become someone we’re proud of.
